I'm Very (Not) Sorry.
This is my apology letter written by and elf for smashing a ornament. This elf, however, is clearly not very sorry whatsoever. I also made a envelope for the letter with an address.

More Wrapping Paper!
This is my wrapping paper design. At first I made the Santa, which took the most time. I had him big but then I shrunk him down. The presents were pretty easy to make. I spent a lot of time trying to get Santa's beard just right. I think it looks good and I am proud of my Santa.
The News
Cat Stops Catastrophe!
Written By Shelby Park.
FIRE, FIRE, FIRE! Mog the cat and new local hero saved his family and their home. Although experts discovered he caused the fire, Mog accidentally walked one the telephone calling 999 (emergency service in the United Kingdom). At first the fire department thought it was a prank call, but soon they decided to find the address the emergency service was called from just in case. When they were passing Mog's home, they saw Mog outside with Christmas lights behind him.
Now I am here interviewing the owners of Mog. Mr Thomas, did you ever expect Mog to cause and save you from, a fire?
"Definitely not. All Mog does is sleep and bring in dead mice."
Yes, was your family devastated when they found out about the fire.
"Yes. My wife burst into tears and my kids were about to. Then the neighbours came and gave us a Christmas tree and helped us clean up."
Wow, what nice neighbours. And did you reward Mog for stopping the fire, or punish him for starting it?
"Well, we gave him a nice fancy dinner, however we did make sure that nothing was in his reach, or in the reach of his tail."

Spot The Difference
This is my wreath next to the one I copied. I think they look pretty similar, however you can definitely tell the difference(mine's on the left). I made the bow and stripes myself from the curve tool.
Reindeer Menu
This is the reindeer's food I designed. I also decided to add some of the reindeer's preferences on the food. For example, Rudolph hates tomato and Blitzen loves cheese. Dancer prefers tomato sauce over barbecue sauce.
Wrap Up Your Christmas
This is the Christmas tree wrapping paper I designed. At first the background was red, but then I decided it looked weird. And the trees were bare, so I added some decorations.

Camp Cooking
For our last rotation we did some cooking. We made a potato stuffed with ham and cheese and a banana peel stuffed with marshmallow and chocolate chips. I wasn't too keen at first because I am not a fan of bananas or potatoes. When I made it, however, I realised that there wasn't much actual banana in it. Just the peel. And I decided to make myself try the potato. It tasted pretty good.
I'm over there in the top, right hand corner(sort of) with the blue hat.
Fire
Our second rotation was fire-making. First, some groups went practising with the flint, while others made the fire-pits. First we did the flint practising. Everyone in our group got about five to seven goes except me. I failed and didn't manage to make a spark in two goes. Next we did pit making. We had to shape the sticks into a tee-pee shape. Here's a picture of the process.
Orinteering
For our first survival rotation of the day, we did orienteering. We had to look at a map and find the clues that were marked on the map. Each clue was a letter. You had to unscramble your eight letters to answer this question "What do bears call humans in sleeping bags." We got stumped with the unscrambling the letters part. We had five seconds to go and out of no-where I just shouted "BURRITO!" and Miss Sowden said it was right. I said it because it started with be and that was one of the clues she gave us.

Fabulous Finish!
This is my fabulous finish for the book Ghost. The book is about a boy named Castle (who nicknames himself Ghost), who joins a professional track team. He goes through many struggles, one where the police could even get involved. The character I chose for fabulous finish was Mr Charles. Mr Charles owns the country store where Ghost buys sunflower seeds. We don't know a heap about Mr Charles so I had to make a little bit of it up.

Survival Backpack
This is my survival backpack for Whetu survivor! I did a torch, a sandwich, a water bottle, a compass, a lighter, a first aid kit and a flag. I also did information on why you would need them. I did it all entirely out of google drawings! Except the bag. I copy and pasted it from the slides.

CC W5 T4- Fantastic Favourite
This is my Chapter Chat for this week! I did a storyboard.
If you're wondering what the white stuff is some of the way through, it is the noise of the gun, which sadly there are no objects in storyboard.

Alpine Butterfly Knot
I also learned how to do the Alpine Butterfly knot.
I would give it the difficulty rating of 3/5. It was quite difficult to do, and took a few tries. It is used to join two ropes together, though you can tie one with just one piece of rope.

Figure Eight Knot
Secondly, I did the Figure Eight knot. This is the one I did!
I would give it the difficulty rating of 4/5 because I still struggle tying it, even though I know how to do it! It is a stopper knot.
Reef Knot
For Whetu Survivor, we are learning about different types of knots. I have learned how to do three different knots. Firstly, I learned the reef knot. This is what my one looked like!
I would give it the difficulty rating 2/5 because once you know how to do it, it is really easy! Most of us use this knot for tying shoelaces.

Extremely Excellent Outdoor Shelter Challenge!
This is us making our shelter. I am the short girl in the blue hat holding the blue thing. We tried many different things to have it stay down. We used rocks, but they weren't heavy enough. We also tried jamming sticks in the holes into the ground. That didn't work either.
Mrs Kennedy told us it was too high and to just use our bodies to hold the tent down. I am the one in the tent. It was very warm and cosy inside the tent.
This is us in an actual tent. We worked well together when threading the poles through the tent. Today, I learned that our group can not jam sticks in the ground. Oh, and I learned how to put up a tent.
CC W4 T4: Creation Station
This is my Chapter Chat for this week! I did Creation Station! The task was to make Coach Brody's Olympic medal. I did that and balanced it carefully making it look like I was wearing it in the photo. It is not guaranteed to stay in the same spot very long. This relates to the story because Coach's secret was that his dad sold his Olympic sprinting medal for twenty dollars and died shortly later. I would call that karma.

( hīnaki anō te pai tīhokahoka hangatanga )
Shelters, shelters, shelters, building shelters is a good
skill to learn, even if you don’t like going outside, you never
know when you will be faced with a situation where you have
to spend the night unprepared in the wilderness.

Favourite Shelters
Our favourite shelter is ( the tarp tent. We want to do

Shelter Building
For our Whetu Survivor, we are constructing shelters. We were told to research shelters. I think the best place to build a shelter on dry, flat ground near a source of water, but not close enough to the water that if it floods you drown. Making sure that the shelter is sturdy and sealed, you shouldn't need to worry too much about the wind. Try also building you shelter between some trees so they can protect you and your shelter from wind. As you won't have any man made materials, you will need to make the shelter out of sticks and use dry leafs for a more comfortable sleeping area.
If you build a good shelter, you should be safe from wind, but as long as you can get out of the shelter, mosquitoes can get in! Luckily, here in New Zealand the worst animal that could attack you out there is a mosquito. Since no other humans will be nearby, it should be pretty quiet and peaceful. However, you will be far away from civilisation such as food and entertainment. So it would most likely be pretty boring and you will have to find your own food which could be poisonous. DO NOT EAT RANDOM FOOD IN THE BUSH JUST BECAUSE THE BIRDS ARE! Birds have different stomachs than us so some things that are poison to us might not be poison to them.

CC W3 T4: Research Center
This is my Chapter chat! I researched world records. I found a lot of different strange world records. From cockroach eating to bee beards, it's safe to say people are weird, brave or just have a lot of time on their hands. This relates to the story because Castle often refers to some world records. He also claims to have broken the word record for best secret and worst day.

CC T4 W2- Digital Design
This week for my Chapter Chat I did Digital Design. The task was to make some running gear out of google drawings then go to Nike ID and make your own shoe. I also made an add on the gear as well! In the book, Castle has stolen some silver shoes because coach has criticised him about his running clothes. He hasn't been caught yet, but it's only a matter of time.

Calendar Art
This is my Calendar art for 2019! I did a space scene! The space nachos are there because my way of remembering the planets is MY VERY EXCELLENT MOTHER JUST SERVED US NACHOS! The Milky way chocolate bar is there because our galaxy is called that. And the mars bar is there for obvious reasons. There is a mouse on the yellow moon because the moon is made of cheese. I think the best parts I did was earth and the satellite.

T4 W1 CC- A Way with Words
This is Castle's rap sheet! I did the top seven worst things he has ever done, the punishment and the principal's reaction. I made up five of them, and apparently the principal likes suspending people. This relates to the story because Castle said something about a rap sheet and in the story he has done two terrible things so far( 5 and 2).

Holidays
Me and my sister were going to Chosen Valley Christian camp for one week. Or so we thought. I sleep terribly because all the other girls wouldn't stop talking, flashing their torches and turning on the light. The next morning I went to see if Kaitlin was awake and she looked really pale. Apparently, she had gotten sick in the night. She went down to the nurse's room and stayed there colouring for most of the morning. I didn't end up actually doing anything that morning. All I did was fake jump jam at church and ate some breakfast. When Mum came to pick us up, I went and got all Kaitlin's stuff for her. I could tell Mum was extremely furious, even though she hadn't actually said anything yet. Mum said she was more angry at the camp than us, because she had to save up for longer than a week just to pay for it. Then there was the petrol to get there. And our canteen. We were supposed to get two lollies a day, but we didn't get anything!
Since we were no longer at camp, we had to go to work with Mum for about the whole holidays. On the first day, I brought a small bucket of Lego. Most of my pieces were people. I played lucky dip. It was fun because I had brought thirteen whole people. Kaitlin didn't bring anything but a pencil case. Mum printed out some colouring in pages for her to colour. Kaitlin soon got bored and started bugging me. So the next day, she brought a few pieces of Lego. I had put in a few extra things since yesterday because I wanted to send my people to Hogwarts! I brought a hat I found for the Sorting Hat, a few circular pieces for the Snitch, the Quaffle and the Blugder and a goalpost and four brooms and an oar for Quidditch. Two cauldrons for potions, some wands for Olivanders, some animals so some students could turn into Animagi, and some things for Hogsmeade. Kaitlin was bugging me again because she had only brought three people, and was bored because she wanted to play lucky dip with them, like I had the day before, but because they were all the same skin tone, they looked normal. So I took Kaitlin's people to Olivanders, sorted them into houses and let them try out for Quidditch.
Luckily, I didn't have to spend the whole week beating Hufflepuff at Quidditch (Just saying, Slytherin won because we were the best. SO THERE KAITLIN). Grandma took us to her house on Friday and we got to stay there. I took my Lego still because I have to have Lego at all times. Grandma said she had to take us to work with her, but she said that she had a Lego set hidden away that was meant for our cousin (Really, Grandma. She's two!), but she said she might be too young for it. There was a big Nexo Knights set in her suitcase and a toy which Kaitlin wanted because it contained slime. We turned her whole house upside down looking for it, but we didn't find it. So Grandma gave up and took us to Pak N Save instead. She bought some things she needed, along with some chocolate milk, a packet of fruit bursts and some shapes for us to eat while we were there. When we got back to her house, she had one last look in her suitcase. She didn't find the set she was talking about, but she did find a Lego set I had been waiting to get for ages! Grandma's work was like a maze and people museum combined! She worked at the Booms near her house, so all we had to do was walk across the street. Our Great Nanna was in there as well (Not related to Grandma). Kaitlin gave her some of the colourings she did while she was there. It was a lot of fun. I just snacked on lollies as I built with my lego. Kaitlin sat there colouring because she played with her toy for two seconds before just colouring. I had a lego fashion show with Kaitlin as my audience.

RWC Jersey!
I did a rugby jersey for the Tongan team. I didn't know how to colour the jersey, so I just tried to make everything I put on it red. I also changed the colour of the outline because I knew how to do that. The sun looking thing is actually the national flower. The weird looking thing is the emblem.
Hollywood!!!
We made a trailer for the movie/book holes. I played Madame Zeroni. I was a little bit disappointed that we couldn't hear what we were saying, but the trailer turned out amazing! I had a lot of fun making the trailer. It was pretty dramatic, just like the movie. It was a bit rainy when it was time to film, so some scenes were in the rain. Mrs Kennedy couldn't share it with us, so it can't go on my blog, but at least I'm a movie star now!

Rat burger Book Cover!
This is my book cover for the book, Rat Burger. I did a menu for Burt's burgers(Burger van that sells rat meat in the burgers and cockroaches for ketchup) on the back of the book. The green part is a booger and the brown part is dirt(Or something else. I think Burt might have used this menu as toilet paper and a tissue).
Movie Reviews! 1 result
This is my Holes movie review! I gave it a three out of five stars. I chose that heading because it looks like dirt.

Mission: Fabulous Finish
This is my Fabulous finish for term three! It is a character model of the outlaw, Kate Barlow. This was my first character model ever! I did a flap that showed Kate Barlow as the pretty school teacher. The flap does Kate as an outlaw. I did a flap at the bottom to show where she hid her treasure. I also did a handbag for her. She had a gun (very practical), a lipstick tube, a wallet, a jar of spiced peaches, and a peach recipe book.

Chapter chat
This is my chapter chat for this week! I did a way with words! The task said to write an obituary for zero, but it also said that sometimes they are in newspaper. So I made a newspaper as well! I wrote the obituary as if Mr Pendanski has written it. I also wrote an article about the boys going missing and about their terrible food. I also wrote about everyone suing the warden.

Chapter Chat!
This is my Chapter Chat for this week! I did a medicine bottle. I cures warts and is for ages 8+. It is not for vegans because it includes milk and butter. It also has sugar, salt, weetbix and hot water. It connects to the story because Sam the onion man made medicine which is supposed to cure many different things from coughs to baldness!
Chapter chat
This is my Chapter chat for this week! I did a wanted poster four Kate Barlow. She is wanted for murder and robbery. The reward for finding her is ten jars of spiced peaches because Kate Barlow makes spiced peaches.

Chapter Chat Week 3 Term 3
This is my chapter chat for this week! I did a family tree! It connects to the story because Stanley's dad, grandfather, and great grandfather all had the name Stanley. And Stanley has a dirty-rotten-pig-stealing-great-great-grandfather. I found an awesome website where you can find cool fonts, and decided to use them! I think it looks awesome (especially my name).
Chapter Chat week three term three
This is my first Chapter Chat for this week! It connects to the story because Mr sir got scratched by the warden! I enjoyed doing this and worked so hard on the fake company's logo (Can you tell).

This is my fabulous finish for a Fish in a Tree! I did Ally and Travis' house! I have flaps for each room with bits of info about the characters! Only the kitchen doesn't have a description because I put a study and laundry room instead! The orange thing by the window is Pork chop! I know he wasn't real, but I wanted to include him.

Shelby's Freedom writing: Exploring our goals!
The Naughty Girls
“Mum I’m just going to get some milk!” called Sarah.
“Ok, but be back before dinnertime! I’m making spaghetti, your favourite!” replied Mum.
Grumble, grumble, grumble. Sarah really did love spaghetti, but she had no intention of coming back until bedtime, because she was not going directly to the dairy until afterwards. Sarah grabbed her jumper, and strolled down to the next street.
Brook was already waiting for her.
“What took you so long?” she demanded.
“I needed to come up with an excuse,” explained Sarah.
Brook was her friend from school. The thing was, neither of them are very nice. They are only nice to people their own age. They hated babies and adults. But they really hated elderlies. They hated their weird teeth that came come out of their heads. They hated their glasses, why are your eyes not good enough? Why do they have wigs, almost everyone has hair? And why can they not hear, do they not have ears?
The girls stared up at the building they were standing in front of. It’s a nice looking house, Sarah thought. But it won’t be for long!
“Did you get it?” asked Sarah.
“Oh yes,” responded Brook. “I wouldn’t forget it.”
Brook pulled out a big tin of paint from her green school bag. Sarah removed the lid, and used her hands as paintbrushes, and started making pictures on the wall. The goey, yellow paint looked like someone had vomited all over the side of the house.
Next, Brook picked the lock with her hairclip and they rain into the kitchen. Sarah pulled out the tomato sauce and squirted the fridge with it. Brook spilled the forks all over the floor. Together, the girls pulled out the sausages out and put them in the dishwasher. “I’m bored,” reported Sarah. “Let’s go to his bathroom!”
Brook used the bars of soap as roller blades, while Sarah turned the sink on.
“I’m trying to flood the house,” she explained.
“Oh then I’ll turn the shower on,” laughed Brook.
Eventually, the water came up to their knees. They were having so much fun when…
The handle on the door started to turn. They looked at each other. “What do we do?” gulped Brook.
“I have no idea,” stuttered Sarah.
They dived into the shower and closed the curtain. The door opened and an old man walked in.
“Time to wash my teeth,” he stated.
“I know who he is,” whispered Brook. “He is the cheery old shopkeeper who runs the hardware store. His name is Mr Honeycomb.”
Mr Honeycomb popped his teeth out and stuck them in a big glass jar full of water.
“EWWWWWWWWWW!” they screamed.
Mr Honeycomb looked around and snatched open the curtain.
Mr Honeycomb led them into the living room.
“Hello dears,” he laughed. “How nice of you to visit me.”
“Er, yes it was wasn’t it,” quaked Brook.
“Would you like a cookie?” he asked.
“Yes please,” begged Sarah.
“Yes please,” begged Sarah.
She was so hungry she could eat a whole Blue Whale. He turned towards the kitchen. The girls gave each other a worried look. The kitchen was still in it’s terrible condition.
“What happened here?” demanded Mr Honeycomb.
“Um, we don’t know,” stammered Sarah.
“Actually, I think you do! Was this your idea of a joke? And the water in the bathroom, was that you as well! That’s it get out!!!” he yelled.
He took the girls to their houses. Brook’s dad is normally trying to get them out of trouble. Sarah thought maybe she would save them. How wrong she was. When they arrived at Brook’s house, her father was already groaning. Sarah still had hope. She got them out of the time they had put a cobra from the zoo in the principal's office so they couldn’t get sent there anymore. And the time they poured fake vomit on the teacher’s bed when she was sleeping so she got up and thought she was sick and vomiting in her sleep so they had no school. Neither of those times had worked. Brook’s dad did not help at all this time! He said they had no excuse for that one. Next, they went to Sarah’s house. If Brook’s dad didn’t help, her mum would make things worse. She was right.
First, Mum gave a little speech about how worried she was and how anything could have happened to her. Then she looked so angry, she could have caught fire to the house. She gave another speech about how angry she was and how she had lost her record for not getting in trouble (Two days. Her high score was four. Her worst was three hours). Mum ate Sarah’s spaghetti in front of her and gave her carrot, broccoli and cucumber. The next day, Sarah met Brook in front of a house five streets away.
“Did you get it?” asked Sarah.
“Yes I did,” replied Brook. She pulled out a slingshot and a bag of dog droppings. She put on some gloves. She started firing the dog droppings at the windows leaving giant smudges. Then she picked the lock and crept inside…

Chapter Chat
This is my chapter chat for this week! It is research centre! I did Alexander Graham Bell! I found lots of interesting facts about him! He is related to the story because Mr Daniels showed the class a picture of him along with lots of others because it is believed that they all had dyslexia.
Alexander Graham Bell was an inventor,
engineer and scientist.
He was from Scotland. He made the first
telephone and you
can remember his name because a telephone
rings like a bell.
His wife and mother were both deaf and had
trouble hearing. He
was born on the third of March 1847. He died
of diabetes on
the second of August 1922 aged 75. He had
two brothers
named Edward Charles Bell and Melville James
Bell. Thomas
Edison made us use hello as a greeting on a telephone.
Alexander wanted to use “Ahoy” like on ships.
He didn’t have a
middle name until his eleventh birthday. He got it
as a birthday
present.
