Shelter Building

For our Whetu Survivor, we are constructing shelters. We were told to research shelters. I think the best place to build a shelter on dry, flat ground near a source of water, but not close enough to the water that if it floods you drown. Making sure that the shelter is sturdy and sealed, you shouldn't need to worry too much about the wind. Try also building you shelter between some trees so they can protect you and your shelter from wind. As you won't have any man made materials, you will need to make the shelter out of sticks and use dry leafs for a more comfortable sleeping area.

If you build a good shelter, you should be safe from wind, but as long as you can get out of the shelter, mosquitoes can get in! Luckily, here in New Zealand the worst animal that could attack you out there is a mosquito. Since no other humans will be nearby, it should be pretty quiet and peaceful. However, you will be far away from civilisation such as food and entertainment. So it would most likely be pretty boring and you will have to find your own food which could be poisonous. DO NOT EAT RANDOM FOOD IN THE BUSH JUST BECAUSE THE BIRDS ARE! Birds have different stomachs than us so some things that are poison to us might not be poison to them.
