Whetu Survivor: Bush Survival. Eels

Shelter

  •  Build on dry ground or your shelter will sink
into the runny mud.
  • Build up on high ground so if it floods you will
not get drenched in water.
  •  Don’t build on a sloped hill or you may fall
while your sleeping.

Finding Water

  • Dig anywhere that is slightly damp because
you will most likely find a source of water.
  • NEVER drink salt water. It will just make
you more thirsty.
  • Make sure it is clear and smells normal.

Fire

  • Never make a fire with wet wood because you
will just have a smokey, fire and most likely it will go out.
  • Make sure there is a source of water nearby
so if the fire goes out of control, you can put it out.
  • When you make/light a fire you need Dry
Wood, Heat Fuel and Oxygen.

     Bush Survival
What Does S.T.O.P Stand for in the bush
  • S. Stands for Stop
  • T. Stands for Think
  • O. Stands for Observe
  • P. Stands for Plan

Signaling for help
  • First you should scream
“HELP HELP I NEED HELP” so somebody
will recognise that somebody needs help.
  • Do the S.O.S Signal and a helicopter might
recognise you.
  • Try and make it noticeable that someone
is there and needs help.

Basic First Aid
  • Stay calm.
  • Make sure you know what you are doing
before acting.
  • Make sure you know what has happened
before trying anything
