Holidays

Me and my sister were going to  Chosen Valley Christian camp for one week. Or so we thought. I sleep terribly because all the other girls wouldn't stop talking, flashing their torches and turning on the light. The next morning I went to see if Kaitlin was awake and she looked really pale. Apparently, she had gotten sick in the night. She went down to the nurse's room and stayed there colouring for most of the morning. I didn't end up actually doing anything that morning. All I did was fake jump jam at church and ate some breakfast. When Mum came to pick us up, I went and got all Kaitlin's stuff for her. I could tell Mum was extremely furious, even though she hadn't actually said anything yet. Mum said she was more angry at the camp than us, because she had to save up for longer than a week just to pay for it. Then there was the petrol to get there. And our canteen. We were supposed to get two lollies a day, but we didn't get anything!

Since we were no longer at camp, we had to go to work with Mum for about the whole holidays. On the first day, I brought a small bucket of Lego. Most of my pieces were people. I played lucky dip. It was fun because I had brought thirteen whole people. Kaitlin didn't bring anything but a pencil case. Mum printed out some colouring in pages for her to colour. Kaitlin soon got bored and started bugging me. So the next day, she brought a few pieces of Lego. I had put in a few extra things since yesterday because I wanted to send my people to Hogwarts! I brought a hat I found for the Sorting Hat, a few circular pieces for the Snitch, the Quaffle and the Blugder and a goalpost and four brooms and an oar for Quidditch. Two cauldrons for potions, some wands for Olivanders, some animals so some students could turn into Animagi, and some things for Hogsmeade. Kaitlin was bugging me again because she had only brought three people, and was bored because she wanted to play lucky dip with them, like I had the day before, but because they were all the same skin tone, they looked normal. So I took  Kaitlin's people to Olivanders, sorted them into houses and let them try out for Quidditch.

Luckily, I didn't have to spend the whole week beating Hufflepuff at Quidditch (Just saying, Slytherin won because we were the best. SO THERE KAITLIN). Grandma took us to her house on Friday and we got to stay there. I took my Lego still because I have to have Lego at all times. Grandma said she had to take us to work with her, but she said that she had a Lego set hidden away that was meant for our cousin (Really, Grandma. She's two!), but she said she might be too young for it. There was a big Nexo Knights set in her suitcase and a toy which Kaitlin wanted because it contained slime. We turned her whole house upside down looking for it, but we didn't find it. So Grandma gave up and took us to Pak N Save instead. She bought some things she needed, along with some chocolate milk, a packet of fruit bursts and some shapes for us to eat while we were there. When we got back to her house, she had one last look in her suitcase. She didn't find the set she was talking about, but she did find a Lego set I had been waiting to get for ages! Grandma's work was like a maze and people museum combined! She worked at the Booms near her house, so all we had to do was walk across the street. Our Great Nanna was in there as well (Not related to Grandma). Kaitlin gave her some of the colourings she did while she was there. It was a lot of fun. I just snacked on lollies as I built with my lego. Kaitlin sat there colouring because she played with her toy for two seconds before just colouring. I had a lego fashion show with Kaitlin as my audience.

  1. It can be annoying having a younger sibling sometimes! But it sounds like you two have a lot of fun together as well. Thank you for sharing your holiday post with me, Shelby.
