Mother’s Day
My Mum is as busy as Whetu’s mascot,
Always relaxing in the sun. NOT!
The vacuuming and scrubbing and nappy-changing,
Hanging out the washing and furniture rearranging,
My Mum is the house slave,
The worst job ever gave.
Not a good pay,
Only thirty cents per day.
And the kids, do they show signs of appreciation?
No they do not, it’s disgusting, fetch me a basin!
So whatever you do, do not apply for the Mum position,
Now the kids, who’d realised this, are on a mission.
Give my Mum a day off for a change,
Almost every mum gets a day off so it’s strange.
Maybe because of the tiny baby?
No, it mustn't, she was always a busy lady.
There’s only one explanation,
It was the kids, always in another location.
There was school, gymnastics and soccer,
For chores, all that was really a blocker.
The kids suddenly felt a pain of regret,
The three of them started to fret.
When they were asleep there mother was tired,
But she still had to listen for the baby once hired.
She didn’t get what she was hoping for,
Suddenly, she had lazy kids that did no chores.
The next day my Mum witnessed a miracle!
The house wasn’t messy, like it was on a day that was typical!
It was as clean as new, that was a shock,
Then she spied an un-brushed frock!
Then the kids jumped out and shouted 
Then the kids ran off to their room to play.
My Mum just stood there, frozen to the spot,
Then she heard a cry come out from the cot.
“Oh no,” She whispered. “The baby’s awake.”
As for the kids, they turned and gave a handshake,
To the cleaners they hired,
Of course they didn’t clean it, they were to tired.
So the hired some cleaners which were about to be fired!
When the cleaners had left, the kids shouted with glee,
Then they stopped, “I hope they don’t expect money!”
